Solar Panel Cleaning in Worcester
I clean roof and ground-mounted solar panels in Worcester and the surrounding villages using purified water and soft solar brushes on long-reach water-fed poles. Ground-mounted panels are cleaned from the ground, and roof panels from a scaffold tower. Roof panels start at £15 each, with a £125 minimum.
Why clean your solar panels?
UK rain washes off light dust but not bird droppings, lichen or traffic film. These block light and cut how much electricity your panels make. Bird droppings and heavy lichen can also cause "hot spots": small areas on a cell that overheat and can damage it over time.
How I clean your panels
-
Check. I look over the panels and mounting for obvious damage or loose wiring. I started out as a qualified electrician, so I know what I'm looking at.
-
Pure water. I filter water down to pure water, which dries without spots or residue, with no detergents left behind to attract dirt.
-
Soft brushes. I clean with solar-specific soft brushes on long-reach water-fed poles: from the ground for ground-mounted panels, and from a scaffold tower for roof panels.
-
Heavy growth. Where there's lichen or heavy fouling, I use a cleaning solution that's safe for the glass and aluminium frames.
Most panel manufacturers ask for non-abrasive cleaning without harsh chemicals, which is exactly how I work.

A typical 12-panel roof costs from £180.
How often should solar panels be cleaned?
Every one to two years for most homes. More often if you have birds nesting nearby or trees overhead.

Not with the right method. I use pure water and soft brushes, which is the non-abrasive cleaning most manufacturers ask for.
How do you reach roof panels?
From a scaffold tower, using long-reach water-fed poles. Ground-mounted panels are cleaned from the ground, which is why they cost less.
